HHC gains ClubsFirst Accreditation

On the 23rd March 2009 the Club received confirmation that we have received England Hockey ClubsFirst and Sport England Clubmark accreditation – awards given to those Clubs able to demonstrate an ability to provide a safe, effective and child-friendly hockey environment. The ClubsFirst scheme aims to take good practise in areas such as child protection, coaching and general junior development to create a formal framework to enable Clubs to progress towards the same standards, and perhaps more importantly to be seen to be applying them.

Further information will shortly be appearing on the ClubsFirst section of the Colts Information pages.

Indoor Hockey Update

U16 Boys

Sussex Winners then went onto Regionals Tournament where they lost in the Semi-Final to eventual tournament winners Bromly & Beckenham.

U18 Boys

Sussex Runners Up then went onto Regionals Tournament where they lost 7-2 to Surbiton and 5-2 to E Grinstead.

However I think it should be known that for both the boys teams this is their first ever time at playing any competitive indoor hockey and having had the real pleasure in coaching the U16's and watching the U18's I as Coach, Colts Co-Ordinator and Parent was really impressed with the way the boys performed and represented Horsham Hockey Club, with their proffessional attitude and approach both on and off the pitch. Also their support of each other with the two age groups was superb.

U16 Girls

Sussex Winners then went onto the Regionals Tournament where they finished Mid Table. Sadly I was unable to be with the girls supporting as all the tournaments where held on the same day but at different venues (luckily for me and others the boys played at the same place), however the reports that came back from their coach Sue Heslop and Team Manager Nicki Trumpess was a very good one. Like the boys they showed a professional approach to the whole day and performed to their very best, bearing in mind last seasons success at 16's these girls had a really tough act to follow.

U18 Girls

Sussex Winners, went onto the Regionals Tournament where they unbeaten and finished Regional Champions.
