I wonder...

if money doesn’t grow on trees, why do banks have branches?

welcome!

Based at the picturesque Cricketfield in this historic West Sussex market town, for the 2008/2009 season the Club will be running six Ladies and six Mens teams on Saturdays, with the Ladies 1s leading the way in National Conference East of the Slazenger England Hockey League. In addition, we have a number of Junior teams (Girls and Boys) playing on Sundays, and a Ladies Indoor and a Mixed team will be playing in various competitions throughout the season.

Feel free to wander around the website – and if you’re bored with Fixtures and Results, why not try the Fun & Games section, which features a few things to occupy your free time; alternatively you could always buy some Club Kit!

If you have any trouble finding anything in particular using the menu bar, try the site map instead.

New (and returning) players are always welcome to join us – have a look at the Training and Membership sections for more details, or use the Contact us page to get in touch.

HHC gains ClubsFirst Accreditation

On the 23rd March the Club received confirmation that we have received England Hockey ClubsFirst and Sport England Clubmark accreditation – awards given to those Clubs able to demonstrate an ability to provide a safe, effective and child-friendly hockey environment. The ClubsFirst scheme aims to take good practise in areas such as child protection, coaching and general junior development to create a formal framework to enable Clubs to progress towards the same standards, and perhaps more importantly to be seen to be applying them.

Further information will shortly be appearing on the ClubsFirst section of the Colts Information pages.

Double 18s

On 26th April the Girls U18s became the first Club team to win a National trophy when they beat Matlock Baileans five-one in the Final of the England Hockey U18 Plate at the Abbeydale Sports Centre, home of Sheffield Hallam HC – Jess Dean dominating the scoring with a hat-trick of penalty corner conversions, with Lilly Hayes and Issie Gibson adding one each from open play. A brief match report can be found on the England Hockey website. The win came less than two weeks after the team had confirmed themselves as Champions of the U18 Premier A Division of the Girls Home Counties League.

U16s go National!

The Girls Under 16 Indoor Squad became the first Horsham team to appear in a National Final on 25th January when they played Harleston Magpies for the Girls National Indoor Championships at the National Indoor Arena in Birmingham. With Magpies the only team to beat them in the group stages, the Girls hopes for revenge were boosted inside the first 20 seconds of the Final as Lucy Wood put them one up – however the East Anglia side recovered for an eventual four-one victory and the Trophy.

Full details of the competition can be found on the England Hockey website, which also includes a match report of the Final.
